Small groups of people gravitated together to form communities numbering mere dozens of people. New morals, customs, and priorities were established as they attempted to survive. One questions was forefront in their minds. It was the first questioned asked when they encounter each other. It was; “What happened?” The fourth book in The Event series, The Genesis Particle, finally provides the answer to that question. Slowly the survivors realized they had been changed, altered. The found that not every female was fertile. Two-thirds of the surviving females had been rendered barren. The implication of that effect was astounding, especially in a world where survival of the human race depended on procreation of the species. Therefore, when it was discovered, in The Event—The Genesis Particle, that a surviving scientist not only knew the cause of the dissolution of humans across the world, but he also had the cure to the infertility, it became paramount that he be gathered into the safety of the Ranger Republic, where he could be protected and encouraged to complete his research and hopefully reverse infertility in the females.

Not only are you taken on a roller-coaster ride of fast paced action, but many questions raised in the first three books are answered in the process. The author has managed to weave an unbroken tapestry of narrative throughout all four volumes of The Event and that is the hallmark of any good storyteller. With this latest effort, Mr. Boutwell has earned a rightful place among the best of storytellers. Do yourself a favor and read the whole series.

He teaches us that in most cases we have misread what is said about the Lord and the savior. He tries to grasp an understanding for himself, but he still requested some assistance by being interactive with the reader.

A New Friendly Understanding of Matthew's Message By Reverend Mike Wanner The questions raised by the author transport readers to a fresh new viewpoint/slant on the messages within Matthew. Even as a minister, i have found the bible to be a great sedative and at many times totally boring. This writer brings a user-friendly dynamic to hearing the message. Things stuck out from reading this book that never seemed significant before. Jesus being baptized by John while John sought the reverse. The craftiness of the devil.The writer also brings his humor and personality to understanding the old ideas from a current perspective. The importance of asking is clear when looking at Peter's lack of attentiveness while walking on water and then his crying out to Jesus for help. A fresh sensitivity toward divorce also emerges and helps to ease the way for all.I highly recommend this book to all who want to move closer to God but have been put off by strict doctrines that seem rigid. This book will share a perspective that will help you to revisit the possibilities for personal peace. May all who read this message and/or the book be blessed AND SO IT IS!

By Martina Isabela Beltran As I began to read through Kurt Olson's commentary on Matthew, I was immediately struck by the simplistic profundity by which he engages Scripture. Keep in mind this book is not scholarly in nature yet it is scholarly in its depth of thought. This means that Kurt exegeses Scripture with a view to the layman without sacrificing when needed the engagement of what could be termed more scholarly material. He walks through the entire book of Matthew one chapter at a time, devoting a chapter in this book to the events that Matthew records in his gospel. This is an easy to read book on Matthew. Kurt Olson does a great job of providing relevant cultural background information in a way that brings the text to life on academic and emotional levels.

Sci-fi is why I originally picked it up, I am a huge fan of "the final frontier". This book is more about the human condition and human actions and reactions to certain situations. (I don't want to give away too much!) This book is smart and witty. I loved it.

After reading the book, I can see why. What this book really needs is a strong editor. The initial concept may be sci-fi, but the story is more of a discussion about the human condition. However, there is almost thirty chapters of exposition. The books conclusion is exciting and very thought provoking, but it simply comes too late. A lot of events occur, a lot of scientific theories are explained, but no real emotional growth or experiences happen to the main character until the book is almost over.

Chappell This tale of sex, drugs and rock and roll ricochets between the Eastern and Western Shores of Chesapeake Bay in a multi POV thriller in the Carl Hiaasen style of breakneck pacing, vivid characters, sense of place and plot. A naive watermen who's rarely been outside Kent Island is recruited and sent to Baltimore's notorious Block by a local Silverback to retrieve his waywatd daughter Dee from a life of prostitution, coke and a smarmy pimp named Salt. Shadowing Tooey, the naive watermen, is a hulking guy named Clacker, short on brains and big on brawn, who provides the muscle. Somewhere along the way to the notorious red light district in it's heyday, Tooey meets a nice girl with artistic ambitions and very little hope. When Salt, coked up and nasty, loses a mysterious box, and comes after Tooey, Clacker and Dee looking for it, the action explodes off the page. A tightly plotted caper with a strong ambience and a cast of film noire characters that would thrill Robert Mitchum.

You don't have to be a fan of the genre to like this story--that's how good it is By Kenton Kilgore Gritty, dark, sometimes seamy and violent, BLOODY POINT 1976 is not for kids or the faint-hearted--but it's for everyone else who loves a suspenseful, sometimes wrenching story. This is not a genre I ordinarily read, but I loved this book. Lewis' depictions of the beautiful, tranquil Chesapeake Bay--and the honest, hard-working water men who ply--it brilliantly clash against the sordid, menacing, yet almost irresistibly-tempting "Block" of 1970's Baltimore infamy --and the human predators (and prey) who infest it. The plotting is tight and the characters are excellent: I will never forget Tooey, Dee, and especially Salt Wade. And I did *not* see that ending coming! To say more would give it away.Brent Lewis has made his name as a chronicler of Eastern Shore history; now, he makes his debut as a writer of fiction. An impressive debut, and I hope to read more stories from him soon!

By Harold Kniceley Brent's first novel is a hit! The flavor of the slow paced Eastern Shore contrasted with Baltimore's " Block " sets up a world filled with suspense. This fast paced book holds one's interest from the beginning to the end. Well developed characters populate the pages and lend color to this read.Anyone interested in suspenseful thrillers will enjoy the many twists and turns offered up by the author. It took an Eastern Shoreman to tell a tale like that of Tooey's heritage on the shore, and contrast it with a place usually not frequented by Sho' men.Surely there will be more offerings from one so talented......perhaps a sequel?
