Absorbing in parts whereupon it leaves you a little wanting - e.g. the giants in The Guildhall - what happened next? Nice to see old Pickwick but his dad's a real pain in the ass & just gets on ones nerves. I liked Master Humphrey though, he made the best of what life offered to him and was rewarded with good friendships.

Confusing and uninteresting By MamaSylvia eBook downloaded from [...]Convoluted narration by a crippled old man of the club that meets in his house and the stories the members record and leave in the clock.The stories-within-stories-within-stories left me confused, and the stories themselves weren't interesting enough to motivate me to wade through them. I gave up at about a quarter of the way through.

Definitely leaves you needing to know more about Serenity, what her past was and what her future holds. Lord Vondorian is a tremendously evil vampire who has conquered much of the human territories by the force of his army. With Serenity by his side he has become an unstoppable force. For centuries he tried to get Serenity to submit fully to him.There has always been something holding her back from submitting herself to him. Vondorian decides to put his major plan into action to take down a territory that has been a holy place from the beginning of time. Believing that he can do anything as long as he has control over Serenity. The plan is put into action and things are pushed to the brink. The craziness that ensues will have you glued to your seat and keeps you captivated right till the end of the book!! Will Vondorians plans work the way he wants or will it all go awry? One incredible thing after another happens which had my full attention and gripping my seat the whole time!! When Cret is introduced in the story a new outlook on Serenity and hope is restored. I don't want to give away any of the excitement so you have to 1-click this baby to find out and you will not be disappointed!! I can not wait to get the next installments to the series! Thank you Mike Laoshi By Fawn As a native Taiwanese speaker, I have always struggled with explaining Mandarin Chinese to my foreign friends. It is especially hard when it comes to explaining the sometimes arbitrary "rules" and grammar and of course, exceptions. Let's put it straight, having to explain your mother tongue can be very frustrating, I don't know all the answers. Now I just have to point my friends to the Chinese with Mike books/videos and have them find out the answers themselves. Why wouldn't I like that? Thank you Mike Laoshi. You are pretty cool.

It's not only educational, but very entertaining, too. I had previously used it for homeschooling my kids when it was available as a YouTube series, but having the books has made this the perfect course. Five stars.

About the Author George Alfred Henty (8 December 1832 – 16 November 1902) was a prolific English novelist and war correspondent. He is best known for his historical adventure stories that were popular in the late 19th century. 15 of 17 people found the following review helpful. A Good Read By A Customer G.A. Henty wrote 'boy's adventure books' a genre which has been somewhat unfashionable for a number of years. This is rather sad as writers such as Henty wrote quite rousing tales which managed to show the importance things such as honesty, courage, and initiative without being preachy.While the book's plotting and rendering of secondary characters are often skimpy, it is fast-paced, and has an excellent grasp on the historical era in which it takes place.

The Lion of the North: A Tale of the times of Gustavus Adolp By A Customer I thought that this book was a classic portrayal of a lad that had great morals trying to prove himself. I recommend this book along with all the other G.A. Henty books to everyone, young or old.

Highly recommended By The Reviewer Formerly Known as Kurt Johnson With the Thirty Years’ War (1618-48) raging in Europe, sixteen-year-old Malcolm Graheme, and other Scots sign up to fight in the army of the great Swedish King, Gustavus Adolphus (1594-1632). The Scots form the very backbone of Gustavus’s army, and Malcolm Graheme is right in the thick of things, finding himself in adventure after adventure as he fights his way across a Germany racked by war and religious hatred. With daring and panache, Malcolm outwits and outfights his opponents from 1630 through to the battle of Nordlingen in 1635.George Alfred Henty (1832-1902) is largely forgotten today, but prior to World War II he had many young fans of his adventure books. Muscular fiction at its exciting best, Henty’s stories follow a brave and upright young man through a series of adventures during great historical happenings (usually great happenings of British history). Teaching lessons largely out of step with today’s world (bravery, daring, military service, etc.), this book is nonetheless a cracking good read. So, if you are interested in historical fiction set during the Thirty Years’ War, then I highly recommend this book to you.
