This novella surrounds the events that take place in book one, Flight, but with Levi's perspective. I loved getting inside his head and having a front row seat to his inner thoughts. Thank you Alyssa for creating this wonderful character. In the prior novels we only saw Levi from Allie's eyes. He is charming and magnetic, there is something about him that just draws you in. Gorgeous as he was, but also arrogant, cocky, and at times possessive. I still fell for him though. Both in First & Forever introduces a whole new side to Levi. I got to see how passionate he is, his worries and doubts regarding Allie's feelings for him, his fears at the thought of losing Allie, and of course his complete devotion and love that he has for her. Levi had finally found "the one", his Allie and I loved watching him prove himself to her. Also as a sweet little treat, Alyssa gives us readers the royal wedding from both Levi and Allie's POV's. It was really beautiful. Those two really are forever."Allie Davis was everything to me. And I couldn't wait to spend the rest of our lives together." ~ Levi My mind is seriously content to stay in this wonderful and mystical world that Alyssa has created. I was so giddy with happiness by the time I was finished reading.

This is a great little novella into the mind of Levi. If you are a die hard fan of the series you will LOOOVE this! I will say that it was fun to see Levi realize Allie was going to be more then just a bed mate for a night or two. I also loved to see Levi's feisty grandma who KNEW that Levi had met the one...even before he did!! But the scene that really got me was when he taking THAT RING from his parents house...ok fans of the series you totally know what ring i am taking about...EEEK!!!The only think bad I can say is ...NOT LONG ENOUGH!! I would have KILLED to be in Levi's mind the night he gives Allie Said ring. I would wanna see him rationalize what he was doing without telling her the ramifications of accepting the ring. Granted, Series Die Hards like me know what happens and all that jazz but still to be in my book boyfriends head for that scene would have been awesome!!Anyway, this book really only gives us insight to the first few days that Levi and Allie meet. It ends way to soon and before anything really happens with them as a couple but it was a nice reminded to me about what does happen in the book.Review of Forever for current release 8-11-14I received this book from the author for an honest review.ANNNY fan of this series is gonna be going CRAZY for this 2nd installment!! I mean I was and I am. We get a glimpse of the "ring scene" plus we can see the wedding and honeymoon. Those parts of Levi and Al's love story were in the spin off series so we were more focused on Jared then Levi...can you believe it?? Jared and not Levi...snickers bet Levi is not happy about that one.So this book is a short and sweet look through the stories when Al is dealing with the Toby drama and we even catch a glimpse of her "differentness" when the Were at a party mentioned her not being just a human.........see something i never noticed before...........Anyway, the most important part of this book is Levi's thinking when he gives Al THE RING. His heart is really in the right place BUT he does what Levi always does....thinks about Levi and not what Al's wants/needs might be. So yeah I kinda wanted to punch his face for Al because of his high handedness of their relationship. Wow that is the 2nd made up word in this review...EH oh well. The royal Wedding was awesome. We saw the wedding yes but to see it through Levi and Al's eyes was so sooo sweet. The whole time i am reading i was waiting for the "attack" but of course they were gone for that portion of the other book. The book was a nice look into and back through the relationship of Al and Levi. I love these two and look forward to more from them for sure.

She's one of the few Paranormal New Adult authors I stumbled upon and I love her books! And when she offered me a review copy of the First & Forever, I couldn't type fast enough! If you're looking to start the Crescent Chronicles, I still recommend reading Flight first, as Alyssa now dubs this one the fourth book in the series, I think that reading this one last is the best route to go!Now I've already read, reviewed, loved First! This was basically the first half of Flight through Levi's point of view. So naturally, Forever, is the second half of the novel through his eyes! And I was happy once again to return to this story but being inside his head! It's been awhile since I last read Flight, but it was really incredible to relive the story in Levi's eyes.In Forever, we basically see Allie being introduced to the paranormal world. After taking her on a flight with his own wings, Levi sees that she adjusts rather well to the idea. And if you've read Flight, you know how "well" things turn out.I love seeing the romance between Levi and Allie! It was such a sweet tender thing, but yet still explosive and powerful! There were a few times I felt like smacking Levi though and his logic. He didn't handle things too well, but as we know, it all works out in the end!I have to say I always admire when authors write from the male point of view. As a struggling aspiring writer, that feat is not something I even want to contemplate at this stage! I always love how it really feels like it could be the point of a view of a guy. Guess I have just grown used to all my female points of view over the years! Not only do we get these two novellas through Levi's point of view, that pretty much makes up Flight in his eyes, we also get a bonus short story called Royal Wedding. Needless to say this is Levi and Allie's wedding, plus the start of their honeymoon! It's a rather short read, and this time it's told from BOTH their points of view by alternating scenes. It was a rather sweet little read, as it really cements the two's happily ever after ending!First & Forever was simply incredible! I loved Levi and watching this his arrogant persona get turned around when he meets his match in Allie. This was one of my first foray into the Paranormal New Adult world and I totally loved it through and through!Overall Rating 5/5 stars

In the fall of 1944, World War II is raging across Europe as Hitler's troops continue their aggression. A wounded American soldier awakens in a make-shift military hospital, unaware of who he is. Aided by a French Priest, he finds that he has memories of one person but the body of another. When he recovers and makes his way back to the United States, he discovers that his wife has remarried after the War Department informed her that he had died in battle. Wandering his hometown unrecognized like a ghost, he wonders what to do with his second chance at life. How does Mage Axum choose between the mind and body--between his memories of the old life in East Texas and the new body of James Karl that takes him to the Pacific Northwest? He struggles to cope until fate intervenes and introduces him to the dynamic Betsy Blair, Palestine's only female journalist. Together they will change post-war America and travel the world. Their adventures of war, love, aviation, politics, and second chances span two continents and half a century of Americana.

I was very impressed with this first time author's work. The authors strength seems to come from his ability to create a strong connection to the characters that every reader will certainly appreciate. I particularly enjoyed the historical journey that the book conveyed from the 1940's until the early 2000's. As a World War II aficionado, I found Mage Axum's journey from being killed on the battlefield to waking up in a new body at an Army hospital fascinating. From there a new and worthy life was lead by Mage. Here Comes Mr. Jordan and Heaven Can Wait both have a similar premise, but Axum's work has a fresh, relevant and interesting take on this topic. A nice read that is well worth ones time this summer.

For starters, I went in cold, expecting something along the lines of "Saving Private Ryan" but it turned out to be more like "Forest Gump" and just as satisfying. Axum is a great story teller and effortly connects his characters with the reader to the point they quickly become old friends. Axum has achieved a literary trifecta by weaving a tale of characters, history and geography. I've been to some of the places Axum deftly describes, the other places I now long to go. I'm not one for speed reading, tending to pick a book and put it down over a long period of time. I binge-read this one in about 8 hours. It's that good and compelling.

This book goes beyond the mere "what ifs" and weaves a tapestry of true life events with the seemingly impossibility of a second chance. The reader finds himself wondering how he would react to the startling revelations and opportunities that Mage/James encounters. Could you really live in the same community as your family and loved ones and not reveal yourself to them? Could you start a new life and fulfill the barely imagined dreams of your old life? Mage/James' journey through his new life encourages us all to grasp the brass ring on this merry-go-round of life; we may not get that second chance.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. great addition to the Taragon Universe By Amazon Customer although i enjoyed the others in the series more, this was still a great book. The tech is very believable and the characters are easy to care about. There's just enough romance to keep it ineresting and lively. I've read all of the books in the Taragon Universe and have enjoyed each one. More please.

The reader is reintroduced to Khoe in this book as well as Ciela both love interests of Seth. The interactions among the 3 of them present rich and sometimes humorous situations. The romance in particular is a little tricky here but well handled and hillarious at times. The characters, as usual, are very well developed, I would ceritainly recognize them should they walk through the door. You can easily relate to and commiserate with...or despise them as the case may be. None of the characters is all good or all bad, that's what makes them so believable. The descriptions are vivid it's very easy to put yourself in the various environs and in some cases wish you weren't!The action is non stop but it's not just a shoot 'em up book there are nail biting escapes, intrigue and chases too. Good "guy stuff!"There is by the nature of the plot a lot of "science" including of course the rather slippery concept of entropy. I think Chris did an excellent job incorporating science into this space opera; its never an easy thing to do but in this case it was particularly challenging and well done.As with all of Chris books this can be read as a stand alone piece, and thoroughly enjoyed, but I think it is a richer experience if you have read some of the Sethran series first. In fact read the entire "Tatrgon Tales" franchise, I know you'll be engrossed.Chris is an up and coming writer who is quickly mastering the craft and genre. 5 stars!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Another Hit in the World of Targon. By Dee There is generally a line past which an author should stop writing a story line. Chris Reher hasn't found that line, hasn't been anywhere close to that line, and I'd say has years of writing before even finding that there is one in this series. So much richness in detail, characters, science, and plot. She always finds ways to make even the non-humans, well, human. She isn't afraid of awkward situations, she relishes them and in turn, you come to relish them as well. She's wonderful at showing rather than telling her stories. In this book Sethran is working against time to stop the dual natured beings from taking over and in turn, becoming potent tools in a rebel takeover. He is ever alive and never more "human." I did receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. One of the best post-apocalyptic books I Have Read in a LONG time By Amiesbookreviews CONTAMINATIONFeast of Weeds - Book TwoAuthor: Jamie ThorntonType of Book: eBookLength: 243 pagesGenre: Post-Apocalyptic FictionRelease Date: May 24, 2015Publisher: Igneous BooksRating: 5 out of 5 stars '''''When I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review I was THRILLED. I absolutely loved GERMINATION (Book One of the Feast of Weeds series and when I finished reading it I was wishing that the second book was already available. Now, that wish has become a reality and Book Two has been released.I have to admit though that because I enjoyed the first book so much I was wondering if the author would be able to match that level of quality with this book. However, I need not have worried. Jamie Thornton has done it again. She has created another amazing book.CONTAMINATION takes the reader to the beginning of the outbreak and before with a new cast of characters.Corrina wanted to make a life with Dylan. "I didn't think I wanted too much for us: a big, sunny yard, a garden to grow food, two children, three dogs, and someone who loved me like my father had loved my mother before they both died."Dylan is twenty, Corrina is eighteen. Their relationship isn't perfect, but they love each other. When people in their neighborhood start going crazy and attacking people, Jane, Corrina's best friend runs to their house. They start to discuss where to escape to when their creepy neighbor, Stan appears at their door. He has an RV and offers them a ride to safety.I absolutely love the details that are included about Stan's motorhome. He has even given it a name: Luna. Some of the best descriptions of Luna are as follows:"Dylan called it Stan's mid-life crisis on wheels. I called it a rich man's pedophile van.""I pulled Dylan into Stan's little bedroom of love. That was the only way to describe the red satin sheets, incense holder, and the huge mirror hung on one wall. This room made my skin crawl, which was a pretty amazing accomplishment considering all that had happened."Corrina, Dylan, Stan and Jane also save a girl named Maibe who was new to the neighborhood and had just watched her Uncle being attacked and killed by a mob of what she calls "zombies."All the radio stations were playing the same thing: an emergency broadcast alert telling people to go to Cal Expo; a walled fairground. The group decides to head there to find out just what is actually going on.However, when they stop for gas all Hell breaks loose. Luna's tires and engine are shot and Dylan is kidnapped by armed men who seem to be from the military. They find out that Dylan has been taken to a camp, but before a rescue can take place catastrophe strikes. Can Corrina survive? What about Dylan? Will they ever see each other again?Aside from the personal aspects of the story is the question of what exactly the illness is, and if it can be cured. This book is a thrill ride that will have readers glued to the pages. It is impossible to put down. Jamie Thornton has done an amazing job writing this book.I rate this book as 5 out of 5 stars. By TrekkieChick29 Corrina struggles with her past and just wishes for Dylan to love her but when a madman comes knocking on their back door and neighbors start attacking each other, things take a turn for the worse. This is the second book of the series, following the novella Germination. Starting with a new set of characters following the aftermath of the outbreak, you're taken on a journey not only through the post apocalypse but through Corrina's memories as well. This series takes a truly unique twist on the zombie genre where the zombies aren't really zombies. There are several things that I really appreciate about this series. First that the author does a fantastic job of changing perspective (you know you're reading from someone else's view right away) while still keeping the tone of the overall series. Second, that cliched zombie story moments are pointed out by the characters. By acknowledging them it adds a bit of humor/ relief to the situation while also throwing you off the track of where the story might be going (I prefer books where I can't guess the end). Finally, the take on zombies. At first I was rather confused by the concept (though it was introduced at the end of the first book) but I feel that only added to the story since Corrina (whose perspective the story is in) is trying to figure it all out as well.Overall, I greatly enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read the up coming fourth (see my review for the third book here). I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading the YA and/or Post-apocalyptic genres. Please note: I received this book in return for my honest opinion as part of the author's launch team. By Floryie *I received a free copy from the author for an honest review*This is a great sequel to the first book, Germination. The book is aptly named too because it deals with the aftermath of the contamination of the human race. This is another book which starts off with a totally new set of characters. This is the second time I have seen this approach and it works good for the storyline. Corinna seemed sweet and a bit naive. She does have the quality of being the half-glass-full person. Jane was focused on rarely but I believe she plays one of the important roles which impacts the whole story. She felt duplicitous even at the start and I didn't like her at all! Another person whom I felt a dislike for was Dylan. He felt too one dimensional and not forthright. There was something I can't pinpoint which stopped me from believing him during the unfolding of the story. All the characters especially the minor ones are pivotal in different scenes and cause the twists in the story flow. The action kept me engrossed in the tale and easily made me lose track of the passage of time. This book explains more of the origin and spread of the virus. And the meeting of the old characters from the first book also made me enjoy reading about their adventures. The author connected both sets of characters seamlessly and the plot lines meshed together into a great second half of the book. The story is original with the way the author has handled the characters and the scenes. There is everything in it from a tiny bit of romance to mystery about the virus to suspense of what's going to happen next as the group journeys from one place to another trying to stay alive. I was pulled in totally from the start to the end. It had all the ingredients for a fast read and I ended up reading it in one sitting.Overall, the sequel was better than the first book, Germination. But I felt that it had a bit too much attention on the personal lives of the characters. On one hand, it felt good to know more about them while on the other hand, the details felt a bit too much at times. I am still not decided about it but I am leaning towards to the Too Much Information side. Inspite of it, I can't wait to see how it further plays out in the next book, Infestation. My rating : 4/5My reread factor : 4/5Floryie

This collection contains EIGHT episodes of the West of the Dead Line series. 1 - Bringing in Pike Cudgo 2 - Freed Men 3 - Runaway 4 - Redemption along the Red 5 - The Getaway of Cross-eyed Jack Dugan 6 - The Reluctant Posseman 7 - Dupery at Corncob Forks 8 - Last Will for an Outlaw West of the Dead Line The Dead Line, as it came to be called, was a railroad, the Missouri, Kansas, and Texas, cutting across the middle of Indian Territory. It ran straight south from Caldwell, Kansas to Fort Reno, I.T., then on down through the Cheyenne and Comanche and Kiowa lands, crossing the Red River into Bowie, Texas. It was a line on the map, a demarcation. West of it there was no law, only outlaws. On trails out there, notes would be put up on trees and posts, sort of reverse wanted posters, letting lawmen know they'd be killed if they continued their pursuits west of the Dead Line. Throughout the 225 years of the U.S. Marshals Service, over 200 deputies have been killed in the line of duty. Of those, more than 120 lost their lives in the Indian and Oklahoma Territories between 1850 and Oklahoma statehood in 1907. In the storied history of the American West, no place comes close to matching the dangers and mortality these federal officers faced doing their jobs. Their courage, resolve, and dedication to duty were beyond reproach... for the most part. Those who survived became titans in the legends of the West, particularly one man called Bass Reeves. These stories are fiction, but the encounters this lawman faced, and The Dead Line, were not.

Another Winner by Author Phil Truman By WMW Mr. Truman's second foray into western historical fiction is every bit as good as his first, "Red Lands Outlaw - the Ballad of Henry Starr". "West of the Dead Line" is a series of stories about Bass Reeves, a legendary Indian Territory lawman. Born into slavery Reeves parted company with his owner during the Civil War and took up residence in Indian Territory living with the displaced natives. He was freed by the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 eventually becoming a U.S. Marshall working out of Judge Parker's Court in Arkansas. The "West of the Dead Line" stories give you a good dose of Indian Territory history as they follow Marshall Reeves as he hunts down the bad guys. A bonus for us Okies is recognizing many of the locations described.

This is great reading entertainment By Gary Rix Truman’s Dead Line stories grab hold of you at saddle horn level and don’t let you get your heels out of the stirrups and your feet on the ground ‘til their very last pages. And one of them (Cross-eyed Jack Dugan) leaves you to imagine your own ending. Though based on a real person and character Bass Reeves, his fictional stories are haveimaginative plots and authentic dialogue. Eminently enjoyable to western and history fans.Check out his previous novels "Treasure Kills (Legends of Tsalagee)"; "GAME: an American Novel about Small Town Football"; and "Red Lands Outlaw: the Ballad of Henry Starr". This is great reading entertainment.
