Learn the Incredible Story of Seattle Seahawk Russell Wilson!

Read on your PC, Mac, smartphone, tablet or Kindle device!

In Russell Wilson: The Inspiring Story of One of Football’s Greatest Quarterbacks, you'll read about the inspirational story of football’s star, Russell Wilson. This short unauthorized biography of Russell Wilson highlights the greatest moments of his career. Russell Wilson may have recently entered the NFL, but his impact on the Seattle Seahawks’ franchise was immediate. In just his early twenties, Wilson is already a Super Bowl Champion, a feat very few quarterbacks can ever say they accomplish. In this book, we’ll explore Russell Wilson’s journey to the NFL, as well as his impact on the game.

Here is a preview of what is inside this book:

  • Childhood and Early Life
  • High School Years
  • College Years at North Carolina State
  • Russell’s NFL Career
  • Russell Wilson as a Leader
  • Wilson’s Personal Life
  • Russell’s Dual Professional Careers

An excerpt from the book:

There is no doubt that Russell Wilson is one of the best quarterbacks in the game today. In just his second season as the starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, Russell Wilson took them to a dominating Super Bowl victory. While his discipline and dedication toward the sport have led him to where he is today, Russell Wilson graciously gives credit to his father for teaching him everything he needed to become what he is today. In fact, he is rooted in sports through his family. His grandfather, Harrison B. Wilson Jr., played college basketball and football at Kentucky State University; his father, Harrison Wilson III, also played college football and basketball, and was with the San Diego Chargers for one preseason before being released.

Dedication and a little luck played significant roles in making Russell Wilson the player he is. He committed himself to being a talented athlete because he always loved sports and has an extremely competitive spirit. He also had a little luck play its part because he is genetically gifted and was born into a family that loves competition.

As a result, Russell Wilson was able to take his athleticism to the next level. His dedication to what he does is also deeply rooted in his strong religious values. He is known for being a devout Christian, often mentioning his faith and thanking God during his press conferences. By having a dedicated father, who taught him everything he needed to know about sports, and his personal dedication, high work ethic, and strong religious beliefs, Russell Wilson learned everything it takes to be a successful quarterback in the NFL.

Russell is recognized by many of his co-players and coaches as one of the most competitive players on the whole Seattle Seahawks team. While most quarterbacks have an average height of 6’4”, allowing them better visibility of the entire field, Russell is one of the shortest NFL players today, at only 5’11”. However, despite having a height disadvantage, Russell’s competitive spirit and dedication to becoming one of the best quarterbacks in the league have allowed him to take on a leading role that most critics would have said he was incapable of achieving.

If you’re a Seahawks fan you probably dream about him at night sometimes. This book really transcends the football fan barrier however. It takes a story about a young undrafted quarterback and makes it applicable to other sports and the challenges we all face in life. It talks about the important of family and having a good role model, like Russell’s father. There are a lot of good nuggets in here that were simply unknown to me before learning his story. As an avid football fan myself, I was surprised about some of the things I learned in here, particularly about Russell’s early life where he struggled academically at times but cut deals with bright students to tutor him. The depth of his story contained herein is a testament to the breadth of research done by the author. He wisely uses the formative years of Wilson’s life to start sending his message and then spends the bulk of the book describing his miraculous ascent into the realm of elite quarterbacks. For any sports fan or anyone looking for some motivation, look no further.

Geoffreys really did his research, this book is incredibly thorough, but also a fast read. ESPN-fanboys as well as those without a love of football will each love this biography. By the end of the book you feel like best friends with Russell Wilson.I especially loved reading about Wilson’s leadership, on and off the field. It’s always rousing to read how these celebrity athletes show by example the importance of being good guys, instead of selfish jerks. The section on Wilson’s dual sports was also really good. It’s incredible that some people are talented and driven enough to play two sports at the professional level, when so many fail to make the cut once. This is definitely worth your read. It captures the essence of a good biographic sketch, and inspires you to be better. It’s possible to find heroes today, and this book proves it.

Well written biography By Mo Birch There’s not a single football buff who has not heard of Russell Wilson by now, and as a Seahawks fan I’m probably a bigger supporter of his than the average enthusiast. This book is a great read for anyone interested to know more about this great athlete. It’s presented well and takes you from Russell’s childhood to his current successful career, giving you great insight into why he’s so competitive yet humble. With great stats and concise details this is a good biography that not only did I enjoy reading but so did my 10 year old son. He now has a better idea of what it takes to achieve what Wilson has and my respect for Wilson has also increased. This was definitely a good purchase.

Cornwall, England, 1193. Eleanor of Aquitaine, the indomitable dowager queen, has ordered all of England onto a war footing while her son King Richard languishes in a German dungeon. Gwendolyn de Cardinham, the defiant wife of an absent crusader, protects and defends her estate, Penhallam, with her sword and the garrison of men that she commands. While travelling to deliver a captured mercenary of would-be usurper Prince John to a nearby gaol, her constable takes her on a detour to the local prior, who gravely informs her that King Arthur's mythical sword, Caliburn, is destined to be hers. When Gwendolyn discovers that Prince John has been hunting for Caliburn, she realizes she is in a unique position to end the wayward prince's rebellion. Determined to protect Penhallam and its tenants at any cost, Gwendolyn travels to London to present herself to the dowager queen, placing herself in the middle of the brothers' duel for the throne. But Gwendolyn has kept a secret from even her constable that could put all of Penhallam-and herself-at risk if the queen discovers it.

The story was intriguing and I didn't want to quit reading to go to work or to do other assorted "have to's". Very creative and thought provoking story line, and especially interesting to see what life could have been like for a woman. Can't wait for the sequel to be published.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Interesting take on the descendents of King Arthur By Myra Lowe I like stories about King Arthur and his court. It's not the romance so much as the magic and mystery. There's no Arthur or Merlin here, but there is a very feisty lady, Gwendolyn, who is the central character of the story. She is not the typical lady of the keep. She wears men's clothes more often than not, wields a sword, and trains with the men of arms. What does her husband think of it? Well, he approved of her swordsmanship before he took off to follow Richard the Lionhearted on the Crusades. Her husband has been gone for some time, so greedy in laws believe he is dead and make waves about taking over the lands she has tended for her husband. The heroine decides to present her plight to the queen mother, who is torn between her son's, Richard and the usurper John. Adding to Gwendolyn's concerns is the fact that factions supporting John are massing near her land, another issue she wants to present to the queen mum. Before setting off on her journey, Gwendolyn is told of her connection to King Arthur, and that his sword will come to her when she needs it. Gwendolyn doesn't have time to believe or disbelieve the news, she has other things on her mind. For some reason, Arthur's sword is not referred to as Excalibur. We are never told why. Nor is the relationship between Gwendolyn and the head of her security team ever fully explained. Those were a couple of the frustrations of this narrative.Despite those frustrations, the book flows well and holds the reader's attention. The descriptions of battle practice are interesting and don't get bogged down in describing fancy moves with fancy names. There is dark magic involved as well. All in all, this is a good read for anyone who is interested in Arthurian fiction.I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review.

By ElianaSK http://itsyouandeverything.com/2015/08/03/gwendolyns-sword-book-review/Rating:3.75Title:Gwendolyn's SwordAuthor:E.A. HaltomI received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review through NETGALLEY.Plot: (Link to goodreads page) This book is historical fiction, which is not a genre I have a lot of experience with. Nevertheless the plot was very interesting. This book had politics, religion, conflict, which was honestly great. The one thing that did not work that well for me, was the pace of the book. It could have been a lot faster, I felt that at times the pace that the plot-line moved in, was so tiring and slow. Other than that, the plot was great and it was very interesting to read.Characters: The characters in this book are vibrant. Gwendolyn is a strong independent woman, and that is what makes the book so interesting. At the same time though, every character in the book is so well woven into the story. Every interaction between the characters in this book seemed to have a purpose, and that made it really interesting to read.Overall Feeling: Overall, I enjoyed reading this book, and if you are a fan of historic fiction I am certain you will enjoy it too. However, if you do not like slow paced books, then this is a book you should not pick up. Nevertheless, I feel like the good things in this book outweigh the bad, and the only reason the rating I am giving it is fairly low, it is because of subjective rather than objective reasons.

In the two months since they brought the apocalypse down on the world, zombies have reduced everything to a shattered scattering of isolated survivor groups clinging to what’s left of their lives. Living day to day, hand to mouth, constantly fighting amid the ruins of what’s left of a civilization that was over seven billion people strong; it isn’t much, but it’s that or become one more monster. One thing zombies have going for them is persistence. Zombies never give up, never get tired, and are always hungry. Zombies might be clumsy and slow, but humans get distracted and make mistakes. The patience of death will always win out against the imperfection of humanity. The clock is ticking on the living, not the dead. Peter Gibson has survived some of the worst the zombies could throw at him in downtown Atlanta, and has managed to help his battered squad carve out a safe spot in rural north Georgia for five thousand souls. But squatting in a tent village, spending the days guarding the perimeter and making scavenging runs for more canned food and dry goods, praying that a zombie horde big enough to roll over the humans doesn’t show up; that’s just a holding action. It doesn’t address the real problem. Zombies. What’s left of the government has been gathering itself at an Air Force base in the northern Midwest. They say they’re working on holding and expanding a secured area, eventually aiming to retake the entire continent. When his camp picks up those radio transmissions, that’s what Peter’s been holding on for two months to hear. But it’s eighteen hundred miles from Georgia to South Dakota, and between the Atlantic and Pacific are over two hundred million zombies. Getting there will take a road trip of nightmare proportions.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Another great read By Michael The continuing story of one of the three main characters and his small team is the focus of this book. The characters come to life with their strengths and weaknesses. The setting is dangerous and unforgiving with all the horror a zombie apocalypse provides. It really does take everyone working together to make it. For some survivors, it is another challenge that can be met with creative solutions. Anyone who enjoys good zombie stories will like this.

This second installment in the Airborne Trilogy is even better than the first By Pannebakers This second installment in the Airborne Trilogy is even better than the first! Our hero, Steve, is involved in his next two combat jumps and once again the detail of Mr Emmert's research is evident. You are there, in the Normandy hedgerows trying how to get to the other side without loosing your life and the lives of all of those depending on you. This story is moving and caused tears to form in my eyes at parts. Other times I was chuckling with the humor shared between friends. This is a great second book in this trilogy. Same historic accuracy as the first but you are now vested in these characters. You feel their pain with loss, your heart is encouraged by the heroism displayed, and you can't help but respect the warriors these young men become. Stand Up! Hook Up! and prepare to jump into this great WWII novel!

31 of 33 people found the following review helpful. a true favorite By A Customer In some ways this is my favorite Dumas and thus I think that it ranks with the Count of Monte Cristo and the Three Musketeers. The action takes place during Henry III's reign and follows two intertwined plot lines: 1)the adventures of Chicot, the king's "jester," and 2) the love intriques of Bussy d'Amboise and the tragic Dame de Monsoreau. The political rivalries of the various aristocratic court factions is entertaining and interesting and, it is my impression, fairly (but not completely) accurate history. Though Chicot is an invention and the historical Bussy (a footnote character of the period) highly highly romanticised. Who cares if a small liberty or two are taken? Chicot is marvelously drawn, a wonderful character who both loves and despises his weak and highly flawed benefactor, Henry III. Chicot is clever, cunning, brave and decent but interested too in his own interests. He is also a proud but poor Gascon gentleman. He manipulates the king for his own amusment but also for good purpose. Were the book only about him it would be a great read. But even better, Dumas gives us Bussy d'Amboise, Louis de Clermont, Comte de Bussy, the brave, proud, handsome, man of honor who personafies the French aristrocratic (especially the post-Revolution, 19th Cent. Romantic notion of,) ethos. The romance between Bussy and La Dame (Diana) is romantic indeed: he is injured in a cowardly ambush (in which he defends himself magnificantly, of course) Diana nurses him but secretly and her identity remains a mystery for sometime. Poor Diana has a tragic situation and eventually, Bussy manages to find her etc... The ending is unforegettable and provides the basis for the sequal: The Forty-Five Guardsmen: an uneven story with some good moments, but sadly, inferior to this. Note: "La Dame" is the sequal to Marguerite de Valois (see film: La Reign Margot aka Queen Margot) I first read this when I was about 19 and it is still great, great fun 21 years later. If you like any Dumas, you'll like this alot. Technically, of course, this is not great literature but it is great in its own way.

10 of 11 people found the following review helpful. good book but too many typos in this edition By qh Great book if you are a Dumas fan, and especially if you've read "La Reine Margot". But this edition (ISBN 1-60096-103-7) of the book is full of typos. They even misspelled the name on the front cover - if you click on the "Search inside the book", you'll see the name of the book blatantly misspelled as "Chico the Jester". These typos get really annoying in an otherwise great book. I would not buy books from this publisher (Waking Lion Press) any more.

9 of 11 people found the following review helpful. sad By robsky kostratsky I read this book after I saw movie La Dam de Monsoreau when I visited France with my parents, I was 12. I think the actual book is much better than a movie, Dumas made a good statement in this book by drawing the line between something dirty, which is politics and something that could be so clean, beautiful and yet tragic, which is love. Whenever we love something in this life, we afraid it will be taking away, nothing is permanent. Although this book is a complete fiction, the message in it is very real.Highly recommended.

In 1875, teenager Lucy Nickerson slips into a haymow dalliance with family farmer Morgan Dinkins, a liaison that brings Rob Nickerson into the world with the unpromising prospects of a woods colt-the child of an unwed maiden of the mountains. But it's the pious people around the hamlet of Nabors Mill who euphemistically call Rob a woods colt. The more charitable mountain folk accept him into their milieu and refer to him simply as "Morgan's other boy." The quirks of fate and turns of misfortune eventually bring Rob and Lucy enduringly together with his natural father, giving the boy a happy childhood. But the halcyon years end abruptly when Rob's first romance collapses in a searing rejection, plunging the young man into depression that drives him to the sheer edge of self-destruction. His youthful instincts pull him back from the brink and spur him to leave home and family. He makes his way on foot up to the mountain crest and hitches a wagon ride down the other side to seek his future in the Shenandoah Valley. Rob's valley adventures land him a job as a farm hand on the big spread of Mennonite Jonas Schank where he meets Sally, the hired man's daughter. Passions flare and, forbidden to marry by Sally's parents, the lovers elope in the night and follow the moon to West Virginia, only to be tracked down by Earle Harman, Sally's enraged father. After adroitly evading Earle and a deputy sheriff with bloodhounds, the fugitives flee on foot, braving a ferocious midnight storm, only to be captured the next day while sleeping in a barn. Earle jerks Sally away from Rob, who is then cast into jail, tried and convicted of consorting with an under-aged girl. His imprisonment marks the end of The Tale of a Woods Colt, the first book of the serial trilogy In the Land of Rob. Rob's stint in the penitentiary, his subsequent valley adventures that lead him back to more adventures in his mountain home, and the bizarre double love life he takes up are portrayed

The story is based on the life Rob Nickerson, a mountaineer in a remote hollow of the Virginia mountains, but in the descriptions of the life of the principal character his neighbors and kinsmen the reader gains understanding of a forgotten way of life. Nickerson would have remained unknown and forgotten except for the fact that the author, G. Mason, knew him when Nickerson was old and Mason was a boy. Mason describes with exquisite detail the isolated lives of the hollow folk from the time of Nickerson's conception is 18** to his Huck Finn like experiences when he first encounters the world outside the hollow in 19**. Little did Nickerson know that his life that seems so different to anything the reader would experience in today's world be recorded in the superb memory of the author and recalled in the pages of a book 45 years after his death at age 9***.The reader is swept along with feelings of pity for the poverty of the people to whom we are introduced and at the same time envy for the simplicity and interdependence of their lives. The author captures the accents and peculiarities of the mountain dialog and the reader quickly catches the tonalities that define its unique speech patterns. The death knell of life in the hollows was sounded in the 1930s when the Federal Government established the Shenandoah National Park and moved the mountaineers out of their isolated existence. The author spent his boyhood among the last survivors of that existence and absorbed their stories with keen observation. The Tale of A Woods Colt is the first of the trilogy that will continue the life of Nickerson in the volumes that follow. It is such an engaging story that the reader will find it hard to put it down and will be waiting expectantly for the next part of the story.

By Amazon Customer The Tale of a Woods Colt develops the background of a Blue Ridge Mountain family and lifestyle. It is thoughtfully written to combine story line with history. One feels a part of the family and culture, as the challenges of the age leave their mark on the characters. This is a wonderful, light-hearted read that one yearning for the 2nd book, The Call of the Whip-Poor Will. I enjoyed the characters and history, while learning about an era gone by. Definitely can't wait to continue the journey with Rob Nickerson.

Gripping tale of love triumphing over dysfunction By Amazon Customer As one who has not read a novel for decades because I have difficulty remembering what I have read, I quickly got caught up in this novel because the main characters seemed real and I wanted to know what happened next. The plot moves quickly with sufficient description to feel emotion and understand the setting. Highly recommended
