They were all so different--- fun, interesting, quirky, weird. Lol. Tons of fun to read. But the blog posts were fascinating! A look into the world of a working author. Great stuff!
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A Fascinating Book By Wendy L. Rathbone What I love about this book is that the stories are a mix of genres. I also love that the collection is the result of the author's personal challenge to write a story a day in July, 2015. Not only do you get to read the stories, but he posts all of his blog entries for each story's day at the front of each story so you can see his process for writing 32 stories in 31 days. It is amazing.All the stories are good, but there are gems as well. My favorite story is "The Stone Slept Here" because it surprised me, and because I cannot remember reading anything like it before. "Best Eaten on a Slow Tuesday" also stands out in my mind because I can't shake the images. Plus Dean Wesley Smith is really good at putting in the twists, and his characters are never the same at the end of even his shortest tales. I also love the author's "Bryant Street" stories. More twists, and they always seem to hit a nerve.I also love that each story is accompanied by its own little book cover. I think it is a very cool idea to do covers for short stories.I highly recommend this book to anyone, but other authors may find this an extremely fascinating read because the process of the challenge is shown through each day's blog entry, plus a very important lesson to never forget: writing is fun. Damn fun.
