This author has something to tell you with regard to the art market, yes, even today’s art market during economic “recovery”.With this guide you can save yourself costly mistakes –one of which the author learned and is presenting the short version of it for you as well to learn from. You have to be very shrewd when you go into this endeavor and use the same judiciousness you would in dealings with antiques, collectibles, vintage cars, and the like. If you are a veteran EBay seller, you will literally have a gold mine on your hands once you master the finer points of art reselling.Possible hunting grounds for art pieces? Places like estate sales, auctions, garage sales, and yes, even thrift stores…as they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. If you have successfully resold antiques and memorabilia, you can do this, and perhaps net some hefty profits when the time is right.Among many points of value you will learn how to spot the authentic big name works of art from the knockoffs, how to tell if a work is genuine and not just a print (apparently there are a lot of clever con artists out there, no pun intended) Best of all, how to stand your ground when you know a piece is worth something big, and not easily get low-balled.A great guide for astute pickers out there in search of more ideas for big-ticket items, and how not to get bamboozled easily in the process; plus there is a fairly good appendix of helpful website resources too!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Good starter for flipping art By Matt I wanted to learn how to flip art, or at least read some books on how to do that. After considering art and other hobbies, I've determined not to pursue this, but I wanted to leave a review since this is a well written book written by someone with experience.I liked that it was well laid out and the content was straight to the point. There were also links to resources on how to authenticate art, how to determine the value of the piece, etc. My favorite section was describing how to authenticate your painting. Regardless if someone is pursuing this craft as a hobby or career, I feel like it's a good idea to know some information about the culture, and how to authenticate paintings is a good piece of knowledge.What I disliked about this was that it seemed more for a beginner than for everyone else, but the title mostly implies that, so not really a problem. The other problem is that this book is mainly focused on paintings, rather than other art, like sculptures.Good book for beginners on flipping paintings for a profit.

About the Author Aki Liao was born in Paris, France, but at an early age emigrated with his family to New York and eventually to New Jersey, where he spent his formative years. Aki is a graduate of Yale University (1989) and received his M.A. from the University of Hawaii at Manoa (1993). After spending over a decade working in NYC, he now lives in Taipei with his wife, Tammy, and three children. A Halo for Red Betsy is Aki’s first published eBook, which is now followed by The Cheongsam Bombshell. Al McDermid was born in Michigan, where he spent most of his life until joining the U.S. Navy upon graduating high school. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. When do we get the third Frank Keegan mystery? By Celeste Ciulla Cheongsam Bombshell wastes no time getting to the action! One instantly cares about the characters and their fates. References to A Halo for Red Betsy are brief but very helpful. Our Detective, Frank Keegan, while an imperfect human being, is one we can both identify with and root for, and one with a wonderful, though dark, sense of humor. Some lovely misdirections keep us guessing a lot longer than we may with other authors. My only complaint is that these two authors don't write more! James Marsters should narrate the audio book!

By Joan Kinch Michelle Springer-Llana captured me immediately with a deathbed scene, an amulet, and a mysterious statement of stolen friendship! This is a great story about the intricacies of Egyptian Royalty and the women who, due to circumstances of a birth struggle, came into those lives. This book is filled with rich word pictures and oozes with love, life, death, and suspense. I was alternately horrified and delighted, enraged and satisfied. Thebes, Memphis, the Nile, palaces, temples, and tombs spring to ...life with the rich word pictures grounded in bits of history. There is a twist of Grecian underworld that swells and slithers throughout the pages.

This book transports you back to the time of the mighty kings,queens and the the people who were an essential part of their lives. Two of my most favorite characters are prominent: Lauren and Lizard, along with a cranky old Crystal Ball with a message to tell. All Hallows Eve drraws near and with it come some haunted houses and apparent ghosts. Of course it wouldn't be Witch Central with some of Caro's Kniy-A-Spell regulars acting weirdly ad out of character - if they weren't already full of character.But something's up and Berkely doesn't feel right. It isn't just Lizard's reaction to the meddling triplets idea for her Halloween costume. But dark things loom among all the pink and glitter that three10 year old girls can dream up - and Lizard has to go back to the "mean streets" (that she thought she had outgrown) in order to find and help someone.Although a little darker and spookier than Debora's last round of A Modern WitchA Modern Witch (A Modern Witch Series: Book 1). She still writes stories that are relevant, fun engaging. This time around she's showed us a deeper side. She proves that she isn't a one trick pony with the same story to tell in 7 layers, many of which were great. (One, I liked a little less thn the others, but if you love them all equally, then they're all the same)?No spoilers here. You have to read, the same as I did, to get the good stuff. But it's worth the read. AND it's a strong lead-off for Ms. Geary's next set of books.A bit of truth: Good or bad review, Ms Geary gifts a copy of her next book as a thank you. So, I didn't purchase this one. Instead it's purchase price will go to the local "Back-Pack" club for kids without enough food. A charity that I know Ms. Geary supports. I still have myself and the God and Goddess to answer to so you can know that this is in no way a paid-for review,

By KosyMS Unless you have read previous books in previous series by this author, You are bound to be as lost in the maze of characters and relationships as I was immediately upon starting this book. I thought, reading the description, and since it's a new series, there would be some effort by the author to reintroduce the characters or bring a new reader up to speed. I felt instead as though I had opened a book in the middle and tried to understand the story and characters' relationships.It may be claimed as a "new series", but for a new reader, it is clearly just an extension of an existing story line that in my opinion can't be enjoyed without going back and reading the author's works from the beginning. It is in no way a "stand-alone" novel. Very disappointed!

I could NOT put it down. I laughed, I cried, and I cried some more. if you are new to Debora Geary's work then even though you can read this book as a stand alone I honestly suggest that you start with her WitchLight series. I have each of her books and I have yet to be disappointed. One of the other things I give Ms. Geary kudos on is that all of her books can be loaned. Very smart move as I have lent a couple to 3 different people and now they have purchased the rest! I truly wish more authors allowed lending. Thank you Debora for another wonderful book.

About the Author I was born in New Orleans under a curse: I like to draw, which was forever getting me into trouble in grade school and high school. My grandfather, an educator, thought he could take advantage of that and prepped me to study archetictur. (I can’t even spell it!) So, I studied fine art with a minor in beer instead—or maybe it was the other way around? My grandfather gave up. I came to my senses and realized making a living in fine art was an iffy thing, or really more of a not-very-likely thing. I heard about a great program in advertising design at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette), and that sounded professional and maybe even profitable. So I transferred and changed my major to advertising design—but I kept the minor in beer and doubled down by joining a frat, Kappa Sigma. Eventually, I graduated and married my high school sweetheart. Almost 50 years and two kids later, she is still putting up with me. After four years in the US Air Force as a weather observer, I landed a job in advertising in New Orleans where I had the privilege of working with people much more talented than I am, designing many award-winning packages and product promotions. I am still there. Only instead of being a graphic designer, the other inmates let me think I run the place. Hobbies? This is where it gets confusing. I had my painting period. Most of them are hanging in my home. Then it was my pistol-shooting-competition period, followed by my rifle-shooting-competition period, followed by my deer-hunting period. In there somewhere was my Jeep-riding period, when my elder son and I would trash my Jeep on the weekends in the Bonnet Carré Spillway. After that, came my Bible period. I am still in that one. All my life I have made up stories in my head to entertain myself, and since I’m an incurable romantic at heart (eyes water during chick flicks), my stories usually have a romantic plot. Lest my head explode, I decided the folks inside needed to come out, thus my writing period. Since my other minor in college was history, I like writing historical fiction. Pets? Do you really want to know? I have four useless feral cats I feed (make that five, a new one just showed up), one of which doesn’t even like me. That's me. Not terribly exciting, huh?

A Lively Historical Romance By Patricia J Romero The author has obviously done his homework in being able to portray so well the mood, mores, settingsand historical details of that pre civil war time. The characters are real and greatly varied. They tend to play interestinglyoff of each other and with great emotional tension at times. The hero, from whose viewpoint this story is written, is to be admired for trying to stay true to his convictions despite the adverse circumstances which he often finds himself in.I felt like I was there with the main character whether it was on a riverboat or at the plantation, at the Virginia Military Institute, then outWest trying to round up some renegade Apache Indian. And I must say that the author has proven himself to be fully capable ofdescribing a wide variety of things--all the way from a hog hunt to a tussling match and even the fine details of a fancy ball gown.Throughout the active storyline is woven a compelling romance which you hope will turn out all right in the end.

Roussel This is a stirring account of a Civil War era entanglement of the lives of two young lovers. As a Confederate soldier, Ethan's life is ruled by duty and complicated by the entanglements of loving Rachel. Told from the viewpoint of each, it is presented in narrative and in diary entries. This is a tale that grabs you literally from the first sentence and doesn't let go. Though set in Louisiana, this is a novel for readers both above and below the Mason-Dixon line! Historical fiction at it's best!

There is romance mixed with bits of history and intrigue; suspense and secrets; a society's traditions and culture; and honor and integrity along with baseness and deception. Once you begin reading you won't want to put it down. Using a novel approach to the telling of this tale, the author pulls you in to the story as one who is there witnessing it unfold before your eyes.

A very good read By Tim Taylor Daniel Taylor is the name of not one, but two protagonists in Carol Maginn’s novel, set in Rome: one a researcher employed by a wealthy Russian client to find a precious historical artefact (the ring of Diocletian); the other (‘Dan’) a tourist seeking a break from his lousy job. As Daniel searches in vain, the hapless Dan is mistaken for his namesake by a sinister Italian crime boss who also wants the ring and is prepared to resort to extreme measures to get it.I enjoyed this novel very much. The characters and settings are well-drawn, and the twists and turns of the parallel plot threads kept me engaged throughout, eventually coming together in a satisfying ending. All in all, a very good read.

What makes it unusual is that the tension is not interspersed with humour, but rather the same events are both tense and humorous.Daniel Taylor is at home in this dangerous world. Dan Taylor has been dropped into it, just because of his name and the hotel he booked. He tries to escape, but the baddies catch him and his future looks bleak.I think this is a lovely concept, and it's brilliantly executed.

Jones Sky Knights has the excitement of factual War World II events plus the touchinghuman emotional side. The story is interesting and easy to read and follow.The characters have depth good and bad sides. Hans and Kenny are very human and believable..Several places in the story I have to find out the out come of the human decisions.Did they didn't they??? Will she won't she???? What will Kenny do?? I missed Kenny and Hans when I finished the story. A good story should inform and stir emotions.Sky Knights does both.Hoping Mr. Wagner has more stories to share. Enjoy his style of writing.

By Joseph J Benedetto Jr Awesome story, once I started reading it I read the whole book without stopping! Very easy to read and follow along. And as an airline pilot and a military history buff I have to say it is all is 100% accurate and insighful at the same time. The way it was written it could very well be a true story or the main characters autobiography. The author has done a great job mixing action with some human feelings and emotions thrown in there with an amazing twist thrown in at the very end you will not be expecting! Anxious to read more work from this author. You will not be dissappointed.

This book was more than I thought it would be. It kept my interest with the turn of each page. You would think the author was there in person. Highly recomend it to anyone looking for a action packed story with just the right amount of everything to keep your nose buried in it. Well Done.
