5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. What the heck?! How can a revised version be worse than the original? By Sarah P. Whoever revised this book needs to be fired. Get the original. They cut down the amount of pages, crammed more material onto fewer pages, omitted a bunch of stuff from the original book that made it worth it. Try looking at a page filled with korean characters...it's overwhelming. The older book is the way to go. Spaced out so we're not overwhelmed, lot more details, vocab, english writing, etc.I've been using these books since they first came out and recently ordered the updated versions thinking they would be better. I was shocked when I first saw the size was less than half the thickness of my original. Get the original! All the other peeps in my korean class agree.
3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. 좋은 책이에요! By sherly I've been using this textbook and have previously used beginner 1 and 2 of the same set. They have been tremendously helpful, but also cannot reach their full potential without the matching workbooks. The publishers of this textbook provide really great audio files on their website that is meant to be used in conjunction with their books. There you can find audio versions of the conversations, which is useful for pronunciation.However, the one downside of this book is that I believe it is meant to be used within a classroom, so if you are looking to use this as a method to teach yourself Korean, you might have some difficulty understanding the explanations provided. It is not a bad book by any means, but you might need a little help which can be easily provided by the kind internet people.
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great for beginners! By Guangy I've been a beginner for around a year now and it's a great book as my commute is long. I don't have too many other opportunities to sit down and study other than during my commute and it's a resourceful text as everything that you need to know to complete it is within the book itself.If i must give a point of improvement, it'd be that they can provide more exercise examples within the textbook so that i don't have to spend more $ on a separate workbook.
