I know some chords and could play some songs, but I believe that learning the basics is very important. I bought this book for that purpose. When you learn to play guitar through self-study you tend to know a little of these simple things.The book starts by introducing to the parts of the guitar and what they are for. I've learn each guitar term for each one now, when before I only know the strings and the guitar. There's also a brief discussion about the music theory which was very interesting, I don't know how to read notes, but this gave me an insight.Practice your chords and plucking! It is very important. I was smiling a bit when it comes to "Singing while playing" I remember I cannot do both at the same time when I was starting out. This book gave great advice to do so. if only I've had this book before, everything wouldn't be so difficult and awkward.All in all, highly recommended for beginners! There's also a free access in a 2 weeks program in guitar lessons, which is actually cool!

I read music, but don't know much music theory. I have reviewed several books and found this one just right to quickly get me up and running. It made me understand scales that I had known how to play, but not how they worked for 30 years!If you are an absolute beginner it may be too much of an over-view, but I think you would still get a lot out of it, especially if combined with another book. I think even advanced beginners would find this useful.I checked it out on kindle unlimited, but think I will buy a copy. Recommended.
